Students and credit
Getting an education in the United States is not that easy because the tuition fees are high. That is why mostly, especially college students engage in student loans and other credit facility in order to secure that degree and diploma. Students and credit institutions maybe considered as best buddies because of this fact. But there are government subsidized loans that a student can avail of provided that requirements are complete and the student conforms to the terms and conditions of the loan.
Students and credit cars are another tandem that is considered inseparable. As early as first years on college, students can already apply for credit cards and buy what they need. Especially that most of the parent’s budget goes to food, utilities and maybe mortgage, students find credit cards very useful in getting what they need for school and others necessities. Also, student credit cards teach the student to handle credit and payments effectively. As early as college years, students are already taught how to manage finances, and managing credit cards is one practice that any student may benefit from when he or she has his own business or family in the future. These are more of the positive side of a student having a credit card.
On the other side of the story, students and credit cards may also result to a negative experience. Immaturity, lack of discipline, compulsion and vanity are qualities of a student that may predispose him or her to mismanage the credit card. Especially shopping impulsively may cause him or her to be buried with debt and payables in time. When this happens and he or she is not able to remedy this financial crisis, the student may earn a bad credit mark.
Students And Credit Cards, Not Always The Best Answer
While there are advantages of students and credit cards, there are certain factors that need to be determined first before getting one because one mishandling of a credit card will lead to a negative rating. Worse, would be bankruptcy. As we said, as early the first years of college, the student is already exposed to credits and credit cards. If he or she had a back experience with credit, it maybe that he or she maybe traumatized or will be bad at finances all his or her life. So, it is really important to have the desirable habit of self discipline. With the many sale items and discount offering in the department stores and the internet, chances are, students maybe overwhelmed with it and will shop impulsively.
